the truth about the rain–

WTF, awesome No Comments »

As I sat on the commuter rail at 11pm yesterday, suffering intolerable humidity and developing a case of extreme swamp ass, I began questioning the stereotype that the Pacific Northwest has terrible weather compared to the East Coast.

It was further perplexing to see this image on igoogle:

I actually see this pretty often, but it’s been quite the trend recently and after taking two, soaked-to-the-bone showers courtesy of mother nature while on the job in just the past month I’ve decided to do a little more research.

Results were expected - Bellevue/Seattle is more mild than Boston and rains less during the course of the year.

one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a long time…

Proper use of “That’s what she said!”

girls, random No Comments »

I’ve recently noticed some very loose usage of “That’s what she said” resulting in “she” talking a *LOT* of trash. Sure, it’s funny as hell in the moment, but in retrospect, you really wish “she” hadn’t said it. Thus, I’m going to provide a PSA for my modest readership on what “she” should and should not say. (Examples taken from my trip overseas)

e.g. 1:

“it’s a lot bigger than I thought it’d be”
Yep - you want her to have said that.

e.g. 2:

“that was amazing. Great job.”
Definitely want her to say that.

e.g. 3:

“dagnamit! It never works when I want to show people!”
Probably don’t want her saying that.

e.g. 4:

“I can’t seem to see it yet - can we zoom in on the tip?”
Wow, that’s a lot of trash that she talks.

e.g. 5:

“Dude, there’s barely enough for a child.”
Uhh…You definitely don’t want her to be saying that.

e.g. 6:

“Well, the dog seems to be enjoying it.”

MoH Citation

Unfortunately this guy passed away last month (12 March) — Check out his MoH citation:

“Rank and organization: Private, U.S. Army, Company A, 100th Inf. Bn. Place and date: Near Cerasuolo, Italy, 29 November 1943. Entered service at: Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Born: 28 November 1917, Waialua, Oahu, Hawaii. Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. Private Shizuya Hayashi distinguished himself by extraordinary heroism in action on 29 November 1943, near Cerasuolo, Italy. During a flank assault on high ground held by the enemy, Private Hayashi rose alone in the face of grenade, rifle, and machine gun fire. Firing his automatic rifle from the hip, he charged and overtook an enemy machine gun position, killing seven men in the nest and two more as they fled. After a platoon advance of 200 yards from this point, an enemy antiaircraft gun-position opened fire on the platoon. Private Hayashi returned fire at the hostile position, killing nine of the enemy, taking four prisoners, and forcing the remainder of the force to withdraw from the hill. Private Hayashi’s extraordinary heroism and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit on him, his unit, and the United States Army.”

That is one bad-ass American.
